How to license your dog

In the State of New Hampshire all dogs are required to be licensed within 30 days after the age of 4 months.  The dog must have received a rabies vaccination.

New residents are required to license their dog(s) within 30 days after moving to town.

All dog licenses are renewed each year by the 30th of April, and must be current with their rabies vaccination.

Any owner or keeper of a dog who fails to license the dog pursuant shall forfeit $25.00 (civil forfeiture) to the town clerk of the municipality in which the dog is kept.

What do you need to license your dog?

If you are new to the area or have never licensed your dog in Plymouth before, you will need to bring:

  • A current copy of your dogs rabies certificate; and

  • A copy of their neutering/spaying certificate, if applicable.

You can bring these items to the Town Clerk's Office during normal business hours or mail them to us with the appropriate fee.

If you have previously licensed your dog in town, you can either come into the office, email or mail a copy of the current rabies certificate and the fee to the Town Clerk.
